Wishing all my friends and family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The scooter ride is over but life goes on and I have been busy. Vicki bought a new king bed for the spare bedroom at Cheryl's, I agreed to build a bed frame with storage. It has turned out to be a challenge trying to build it outside. Weather has not been very cooperative. I do have close to one half done minus the drawers. Drawers will be the last thing I build.
Also had a Drs. appointment yesterday. He said I had Bursitis in the hip. may be more than that but it is a starting point to getting it fixed. Gave me a shot in the hip so now wait and see if it helps.
Other chores just keep on backing up, I need to clone myself. Well guess I need to go do something. Will write more later when I can tell if the shot is helping my hip or not.

Home in Willcox. AZ as of yesterday afternoon. My trip was full of great scenery, mixed weather, sunshine, rain, sleet and hail. Trip started on Aug 3rd and ended on Aug 18th. for a total of 16 days. I rode a total of 3685 miles, burned 62.47 gallons of gas for an average of 54.19 mpg.
I visited with many old friends and family, met some new friends and had a great time.
Highlight of my trip was seeing Old Faithful blow.
Next to last day I did a side trip to the Canyon De Chelly, definitely a must see if in the area.

Time to start thinking about my next adventure.

One more day on the road and I will be home. I am in Springerville, AZ tonight. My trip has been one fun filled adventure. I will do an update after I get home with more details on the trip.
My starting mileage when I left Willcox Aug 3rd.

Tuesday, August 9, 2016

Trip to Missoula was actually 1745.5 Miles, The scooter drank 30.39 gallons of gas for an average of 57.4 mpg.
I thought I had posted earlier and discovered I missed some miles when adding them up. So this is much better than my first calculation.

Day#5
Today's ride took me from Jackson, WY through Teton National Park and then through Yellowstone National Park with a destination of Livingston, MT. I was disappointed with no rain, in fact at times it was raining so hard I couldn't see 200 feet. When the sun came out it was beautiful. I stopped along with at least 10 million other people to watch Old Faithful blow. (OK that many people may be an exaggeration)
I arrived in Livingston at the KOA campground a little after 5:00, checked into my cabin, as I was un loading the scooter for the night there was a knock on the door. It was a friend who worked for Hickory Farms when I worked there. After a bite to eat went up to there trailer and had a great visit. The are the cooks in the campground so I had breakfast before I headed on to Missoula the next morning.

Day #4
Ride today was from Vernal, Utah to Jackson, Wyoming. It seems I am getting rain every day and today was no exception. Flaming Gorge reservoir and dam was very interesting. Had a good ride today with lots of nice scenery that I could see when the rain allowed.

Day #3
This was one busy day with the weather, Left Cortez about 7:30 rode about 10m miles toward Durango and it started to rain, stopped put on rain gear and rode on. Rained all the way to Durango and on to Silverton. I was really taken with the scenery, at least what I could see through the rain clouds and fog. Temperature dropped to 52 degrees. The rain slowed a couple of times so I took what I could for pictures. I seen rain, sleet, hail and back to rain on this leg of the trip. After leaving Silverton the rain stopped and I had a nice ride to Ouray. As soon as I left Ouray it started to rain again. Rained all the way to Grand Junction, When I left there the sun came out and the temperature started to rise. Got up to 94 degrees before I arrived in Vernal, Utah. It was 92 when I checked in to the KOA  here. Not sure if I can get pictures to upload or not, so will try and see what happens.

Day #2
I left Holbrook about 8:30 after a really good breakfast at the campground. Took hwy. 77 north, it was kind of boring for a while, then the scenery changed and I started seeing some really neat rock formations and colors. Weather was nice until I left Chinle, then it turned nasty and rained. I rode in the rain about 30 minutes then it stopped. Stayed nice until just before I got to 4 corners then the sky opened up once again. I stopped at 4 corners in the rain and mud along with hordes of other tourists.
Wow, we have a hot Wi-Fi here, went to dinner, came back and the 3rd picture was almost loaded.
More tomorrow.

Wednesday, August 3, 2016

Left home just before 8:00 AM,  arrived in Holbrook just after 2:00. Early but was happy to get into cabin as it started raining just as I arrived. Had some close thunder and lightning.
Had a great trip for 1st day, Not much for traffic anywhere and it wasn't to hot.
Pictures were mostly taken at Salt River Canyon.
