Pic of Store

OK, I just had to upload at least one photo. This is a picture of the store in the Cascade Mall.

Late Late update

Thanksgiving has come and gone, work is busy, looking forward to a few days off after the job ends at the end of the year.

Well lets see what has been happening. Mom And Dad are down from Alaska visiting, they are staying at Rick's in Oak Harbor. We went top Rick's for thanksgiving along with Gene and Cindy and Teri's Mother. We had an absolutely great thanksgiving dinner with family and really enjoyed the day. We all have a lot to be thankful for, in this time of war and a poor economy we still have our health and a roof over our heads, food on the table and the freedom to thank God for all of this.

Charlie is still doing really good. they have taken him off the Chemo for now. Doing more tests to see what to do next. He is feeling good and in very good spirits.

Work has been busy, it has been fun and even with the economy down the store is not doing to bad, it could always be better. Not sure what I am going to do when the job ends. We have decided to stay here at least for the winter and probably through next summer. If plans work out we will head to Arizona next fall, spend some time there and then move on to Louisiana for the rest of the winter. Of course that is a long way off yet so who knows for sure what we will be doing. As time goes on we will let you all know where we are and what we are doing.

On the home front we had to take Mikie to the Vet. seems he had some plugged Anal Glands, (doesn't sound like much fun to me). He seems to be feeling better and in a better mood. DooDad is just fine, she has turned into a I want attention cat and I want it now.

No pictures this update, my big laptop took sick leave, in fact it may be terminal. Sounds like the motherboard died. At the price of Computers now it will be cheaper to replace it than fix it. I am using my Little Dell. It has no memory no cd burner, but it still works.

Enough for now, God Bless you all, take care and keep in touch.

October Already !!!!!!

My oh My where does the time go when you are doing nothing? It is hard to believe that we are into October already. seems like we just left Beaver.

A note on Charlie. Chemo seems to have helped so far. The spots on his lungs have decreased in size as has the cancer in his bladder. The treatments have left him not feeling well at all. He is a very strong individual and has come a long way in this battle so far.

I will be going to Portland the 21st for training on my upcoming job. As soon as training is over I will be training employees on what I have learned. I am looking forward to working again, this should be a very fun job even if only for a couple of months.

Vicki is doing well, the cats are crazy and entertaining as normal. the weather here has turned and we are into the rainy season now. Just to bad it last most of the winter. After winters in Arizona this one should definateley be different.

Now the bad news, My laptop kicked the bucket. Hopefully I can get it repaired but I fear the processor has died. Guess AI will find out when I take it to the hospital for a diagnosis.
Thankfully I still have my little laptop that I am using now, it seems to be working real good after its trip to the hospital.

Mom and Dad will be here next month to visit and will be here for about a month. Looking forward to seeing them again.

That is about the extent of what is going on here. Until I have further to add you all take care and God Bless you all.

Alaska Trip

Our trip to Alaska is over, we are back in Washington as of yesterday. We had a nice flight back and an easy bus ride from airport to Stanwood.

OK to digress a bit, Vicki flew up to Alaska to be there for our friends 40th Anniversary, Mike and Pat have been lifelong friends of mine, we have been through many many wonderful experiences throughout our lifetimes. Fishing trips, sightseeing, picnics, haunted houses, jigsaw puzzles, and the list could go on and on.
Mike and Pat I congratulate you on your 40 years of marriage, your raising of two outstanding children, and for all you have done for me, other family and friends.

Back to other highlights of our trip, we visited with many old friends and family, It is always fun to see and visit family and friends. We got caught up on all the news and gossip of the last couple of years. The sad part of the trip was not being able to see all our friends and having to say goodbye to them again.

Guess I better call this enough for now. You all take care and God Bless.

Bear valley and Prince William Sound pics

Bear Valley is the the valley next to Portage glacier, from here it is a 2 1/2 mile trip through a tunnel to Whittier. From Whittier we took the boat out fishing, the second picture is from the boat about 30 miles out of Whittier.
As a side note: I grew up as a kid in Portage, Alaska, so this country was my play ground as a kid. some of my best memories of growing up came from this area.

Way past due update

Picture of the boat we went out on.

above pic is Mike

OK I know I am way past due doing an update.
Charlie is doing good, Chemo makes him sick for a few days every time he gets a treatment.
He is not ready to have someone take care of him yet. We have moved back to our trailer in Mount Vernon for a while. We are close enough that if he needs help we can be there soon.
Since I am not working right now we decided it was time to for me to make trip home to Alaska and visit my parents and friends. I arrived in Alaska last Sunday and our friends Mike and Pat picked me up at the airport. I spent until friday with them and had a great visit. Tuesday Mike and I went to Whittier and went out fishing with his son in law. we had a really nice trip. the weather cooperated and was nice. water was good most of the day. Amazingly I even caught a couple of nice silver salmon.
Friday Mike and Pat brought me out to the Valley and my parents house, where we surprised them with my presence. They did not know I was coming up so it was a really good surprise.
Here is a couple of pics of the fishing trip. Owen I wish you could have been there, you would have enjoyed battling a silver salmon.

Trip to Bremerton

Last Sunday Vicki and I went to Bremerton to visit my brother Gene and his wife Cindy.
We had a good time visiting and catching up on what has been going on each others lives.
The weather cooperated and it was a nice day. We did drive through some rain going to and coming back from Bremerton.
Vicki and I went to Red Lobster in Silverdale on the way home for dinner. We had a really great meal. Nice treat for us. We sat next to a couple from Belfair. We had a really nice visit with them.
Weather Monday was nice, woke up this morning to rain. Looks like it will be a wet day.
Charlie is doing fairly good. The Chemo makes him pretty sick. He has one more treatment on Thursday, then the Doctor will see how is doing and maybe start radiation soon.
Thats all the news for now, take care till next time.

Short update

We had a good trip from Beaver to Washington. Spent a couple of days visiting along the way. We arrived in Mount Vernon last weekend, and spent a couple of days there, left our trailer at my cousins house and packed a bag and took the ferry across to Sequim.
Charlie is doing fairly good so far on his Chemo. We will know more next week after seeing his doctor. His next treatment is next thursday.
Weather has been really nice here. Today we have a few scattered clouds but nice out, highs in the low 70's.
The cats have adapted well to charlies house, Mikie has taken over just like he owns the place.
Thanks everyone for your prayers, I will do another update after next week. Till then take care.

Movin On

For those of you that have not heard yet, Vicki's step dad, Charlie has cancer and is starting treatment today. We are leaving Beaver Saturday the 5th and going up to be with him. Please keep him in your prayers.
The campground owners here in Beaver have been very understanding and have no problem with us leaving early to take care of Charlie. We have enjoyed our stay in Beaver. Met some really nice workampers that we will stay in touch with.
I will do another update after we get to Washington, and we know more about what is going on. Until then take care.

Scooter ride

I went for a short ride on the scooter out to Milford, Utah. It is about 35 miles from the campground. It was a beautiful day for a ride, seen some deer and lots of farmers busy in the fields. I stopped at Minersville on the return trip bought a couple of waters and checked out the town, after the 5 minute tour headed back to the campground.

June 5th Snow

Well finally got a couple of pictures uploaded. The snow is all melted off now and weather appears to be getting better.

Snow in June

June 5th, 2008
Woke up to 6 inches of snow this morning. What is wrong with this picture? We are in Beaver, Utah, we are not supposed to have snow here this time of year! Lots of trees down and branches broken off the trees this morning. The park just planted like 200 Marigolds and some other flowers, guess we will have to wait and see how they survive this. Our water is frozen, furnace is running, nose is running, guess that is enough of that description.

We have been busy in the park, several projects done and some more to finish yet. Now if summer will ever get here for more than a couple of days at a time, we could enjoy the rest of the summer.

Later all, hope you all have a great summer. God Bless

I tried to upload a picture but it will not go through now. I will try later.

May 7th

Beaver has been cold and windy so far, but watching weather elsewhere it does not look any better. We are getting some rain showers this evening.
Work has been going real good. We finished all the fencing (that is for now) today. We ran out of fence boards the other day so started on the next project, putting up a building for the pool to house the pump and filters. We are making it large enough so they can store all the pool furniture inside for the winter. I will take a couple ofr pictures when the weather improves.
Vicki is working 4 days on and 4 days off, I am working 5 days on and 3 days off.
We are extremely happy that we are working with some other great workampers, and the owners are really nice to work for.
Until later you all take care.

Beaver, Utah

Here we are at the Beaver KOA, made it here just after noon. Got the trailer set up, the tv dish set up everything unloaded and set for the summer.
I have to start work tomorrow and Vicki starts Sunday.
The first project is 500 foot of fence across the front of the park. The old fence was rotten and part of it blew down in the spring winds.
Anybody coming by here is welcome to stop and say hello.
Take care everyone and God Bless.

April 20th to23rd

Left Arizona City and traveled to Lake Havasu City. We spent 2 nights at DJ's Rv park. Nice park and reasonable for Lake Havasu.

After setting up trailer we went to visit some friends that we met in Las Vegas several years ago. We had not seen them for about 3 years. We spent the rest of Sunday and Monday visiting with Jack & Shirley. Got caught up on what everyone had been doing for the last three years.
We left Lake Havasu on Tuesday, arrived in Las Vegas mid afternoon. Checked into Cowboy RV Park got trailer set up then relaxed for a couple of hours. Went to Costco to do some shopping before we headed to Beaver, Utah for the summer. After Shopping we treated ourselves to an absolutely wonderful dinner at the Red Lobster.
Left Las Vegas Wednesday morning for our destination for the day at Cedar City. Shortly after going back into Arizona on I-15 heard a loud POP. Sure enough blew a tire on the trailer. Got the spare tire on the trailer and continued to Cedar City. Checked into the Cedar City KOA. Nice park but a little pricey.
We will spend 2 nights here, do some more shopping, see if I can find a tire, etc before the last leg of our trip to Beaver for the summer. We will be there friday. Looking forward to spending the summer there.
I might add I am about to freeze here , we have been in 90 degree weather for the last month, low lst night of 37 high today supposed to be upper 50's, freeze tonight (ouch). Oh well summer is on its way.
God bless all and take care.

April 14th to 20th

We left Willcox Monday the 14th and arrived in Arizona City early afternoon. Hooked trailer up at a friends place. Jean has been a very good friend and we try and stop and visit every year if we can. Thanks Jean for your hospitality.

Below is a picture of our trailer set up in her front yard and a picture of Jean.

We spent until the next Sunday there and really enjoyed our visit.

Mid April

Here we are still in Willcox. However we are leaving today. Due to a couple of circumstances beyond my control we did not leave yesterday.
So having an extra day we drove up to Silver City NM. Talked to the owners at the KOA again, and put our name in the hat for working there next winter. If we do not get the job there we will probably try for Texas. Still early in the season and I am getting more inclined to wait for later in the year to really do any searching for a future workamping job. I have seen to many good jobs where we would like to go after we have accepted a job somewhere else, or with better pay and hours.
Supposed to get warm here today almost 90 in Willcox and our destination for today Arizona City looks to be in the mid 90's.
Everyone have a great day and God Bless.

March Update

Monday, March 17th, a cold day in Arizona. High today 48. Sounded like a good day to go to Tombstone and play tourist. Imagine, Vicki had the Flu, Lisa is still sawing logs SOOOOO I just went anyway. I got there just before high noon and met Bruce, Cindy and there grandson Bryce getting off the Stage Coach. Since it was now high noon and my stomach was growling we decided to have lunch at the Longbranch Saloon. We had a very good lunch and then wandered the streets of Tombstone taking in the feel of the old west. There was a wild west show in town "Texas Kate", so we decided a little entertainment would not be a bad thing so we wandered down to the corral and enjoyed a very good show. Now the really neat part of the show was finding out that all of the animals used in the show were rescued animals. After sitting through the show in cold weather we decided it was time to head for the barn ( RV Park). Had to say goodbye for now to Bruce and Cindy as they are heading to Kingman in a week. We hope to catch up with them either in Kingman or Beaver when they are on there way to Maine for the summer. Here is a couple of pics I took in Tombstone. Take care all and Happy Easter.

Made the trip over to Sierra Vista Cancer Center for my annual check up.
Great News is my psa is < 0.04 again. So YEA !! I am good to go for another year,
I also had the oil changed in the truck so it will be ready to head north next month.
We plan on leaving here between the 11th and 13th of April. Depends on my job here.
After several days in Arizona city it is on to Williams Arizona for a day or 2.
From there I am not sure which way we will be going, but I am leaning on going through
Las Vegas again. Any how we plan on being in Beaver the 24th or 25th.
Till later take care. I will do another update before we leave here next month.

March Update

Not much new here. Bruce and Cindy came down from Tucson yesterday and we grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. Had a great time visiting with them.

The wind blew all day yesterday and looks like again today. It is supposed to be nice after tomorrow.

We are looking forward to going up to Utah for the summer. This winter has really gone by fast. Not sure just when we are leaving here but about the middle of April. I will let everyone know when we know for sure. I think we will spend a day or two at the Grand Canyon on the way North.

We are off today to Sierra Vista. I have the bike in the shop for a tune up and have a pair of boots at the shoe repair shop to pick up. Should be a nice day for a drive.

Until later God Bless and take care.

Febuary

A quick update to let you all know that Lisa's surgery went well. She came home just a couple of hours after surgery and is doing just fine. She was sore for a couple of days and still some soreness, but doing good. She is enjoying eating again and has already put on a few pounds.

The cats are doing real good after there surgeries. They are back to normal. Mikey has been going out for walks and enjoying it. DooDad sits in the open doorway and watches, but will not go out.

Weather here is starting to warm up, we hit 70 today and supposed to be 32 tonight. Lots of sun, we are enjoying the warmer days. We have about 9 or 10 weeks before we will leave here and start our trek to Utah for the summer. Vicki and I have been talking about spending next winter in Texas. Long way off but we are considering it real hard.

Our truck got a new set shoes on it he other day. While we were in Tucson went to Costco and had them installed. Hope I can get close to the mileage I got out of the last set of tires, over 70,000 miles on them.

I will do another update soon, till then take care and god bless.

January Update

Not much new to relate to everyone. Things here are good, weather has been cold. Looks like another week of cold weather and maybe it will start warming up.

Feb. 4th we will take Lisa to Tucson for her Gallbladder operation. If everything goes well we can bring her home the same day.

The back patio is coming along real good. The main area 20'X20' is done. Now I need a walkway from the back steps to the Patio and another side area for the BBQ Grill. A couple more weekends and it should be close to done.

Well enough for now, I will update after Lisa's surgery to let you all know how whe is doing.
