We are doing well in Oregon, above is a picture of our campsite. Campground is nice, owners seem real nice.
Last Monday the owners took all of the workampers out to lunch at the Outback steak house. Good food and good company.
Work here is very layed back. I clean bathrooms 3 days a week, I have been sanding and refinishing cabin floors. Just put second coat on 3 of the cabins. Still have one more cabin to sand and 2 front porches to sand.
We went to Grants Pass today. Shopping and checking out the city. After shopping we went over to My Uncle Glens house and surprised them. Had a great visit then went out for Mexican dinner.
That's about it for now, You all take care and we will check in again soon,

Gold Hill, OR

Happy New Year

Another Year gone!! Not sure just where it went to but it sure did disappear.

My job with Hickory Farms came to an end, it was most definitely an experience. I was fortunate that I had a very good crew working with me.

We pulled up anchor and set sail for southern Oregon. We are parked at Gold Hill/Medford KOA campground. Will be cleaning bathrooms. started working today, I survived my first day. It was a really long day, 2 hours.
The campground is really nice. Looking forward to some warmer weather. The owners seem to be really nice, should be a fun place to work for the summer, and then we will see what happens from there. A lot will depend on how Charlie is doing. When we left Washington he was doing good.

We made a trip into Medford yesterday, found most of the stores we were looking for.
There is a nice Fred Meyer store there, along with all the other usual stores like Safeway, Albertsons, Pet Smart, a big Mall, and the list goes on.

There is several things to do and see in the area, so as time allows I will check some of them out and post the results of my visiting them here.

Until next time God Bless and take care all.

Pic of Store

OK, I just had to upload at least one photo. This is a picture of the store in the Cascade Mall.

Late Late update

Thanksgiving has come and gone, work is busy, looking forward to a few days off after the job ends at the end of the year.

Well lets see what has been happening. Mom And Dad are down from Alaska visiting, they are staying at Rick's in Oak Harbor. We went top Rick's for thanksgiving along with Gene and Cindy and Teri's Mother. We had an absolutely great thanksgiving dinner with family and really enjoyed the day. We all have a lot to be thankful for, in this time of war and a poor economy we still have our health and a roof over our heads, food on the table and the freedom to thank God for all of this.

Charlie is still doing really good. they have taken him off the Chemo for now. Doing more tests to see what to do next. He is feeling good and in very good spirits.

Work has been busy, it has been fun and even with the economy down the store is not doing to bad, it could always be better. Not sure what I am going to do when the job ends. We have decided to stay here at least for the winter and probably through next summer. If plans work out we will head to Arizona next fall, spend some time there and then move on to Louisiana for the rest of the winter. Of course that is a long way off yet so who knows for sure what we will be doing. As time goes on we will let you all know where we are and what we are doing.

On the home front we had to take Mikie to the Vet. seems he had some plugged Anal Glands, (doesn't sound like much fun to me). He seems to be feeling better and in a better mood. DooDad is just fine, she has turned into a I want attention cat and I want it now.

No pictures this update, my big laptop took sick leave, in fact it may be terminal. Sounds like the motherboard died. At the price of Computers now it will be cheaper to replace it than fix it. I am using my Little Dell. It has no memory no cd burner, but it still works.

Enough for now, God Bless you all, take care and keep in touch.

October Already !!!!!!

My oh My where does the time go when you are doing nothing? It is hard to believe that we are into October already. seems like we just left Beaver.

A note on Charlie. Chemo seems to have helped so far. The spots on his lungs have decreased in size as has the cancer in his bladder. The treatments have left him not feeling well at all. He is a very strong individual and has come a long way in this battle so far.

I will be going to Portland the 21st for training on my upcoming job. As soon as training is over I will be training employees on what I have learned. I am looking forward to working again, this should be a very fun job even if only for a couple of months.

Vicki is doing well, the cats are crazy and entertaining as normal. the weather here has turned and we are into the rainy season now. Just to bad it last most of the winter. After winters in Arizona this one should definateley be different.

Now the bad news, My laptop kicked the bucket. Hopefully I can get it repaired but I fear the processor has died. Guess AI will find out when I take it to the hospital for a diagnosis.
Thankfully I still have my little laptop that I am using now, it seems to be working real good after its trip to the hospital.

Mom and Dad will be here next month to visit and will be here for about a month. Looking forward to seeing them again.

That is about the extent of what is going on here. Until I have further to add you all take care and God Bless you all.

Alaska Trip

Our trip to Alaska is over, we are back in Washington as of yesterday. We had a nice flight back and an easy bus ride from airport to Stanwood.

OK to digress a bit, Vicki flew up to Alaska to be there for our friends 40th Anniversary, Mike and Pat have been lifelong friends of mine, we have been through many many wonderful experiences throughout our lifetimes. Fishing trips, sightseeing, picnics, haunted houses, jigsaw puzzles, and the list could go on and on.
Mike and Pat I congratulate you on your 40 years of marriage, your raising of two outstanding children, and for all you have done for me, other family and friends.

Back to other highlights of our trip, we visited with many old friends and family, It is always fun to see and visit family and friends. We got caught up on all the news and gossip of the last couple of years. The sad part of the trip was not being able to see all our friends and having to say goodbye to them again.

Guess I better call this enough for now. You all take care and God Bless.

Bear valley and Prince William Sound pics

Bear Valley is the the valley next to Portage glacier, from here it is a 2 1/2 mile trip through a tunnel to Whittier. From Whittier we took the boat out fishing, the second picture is from the boat about 30 miles out of Whittier.
As a side note: I grew up as a kid in Portage, Alaska, so this country was my play ground as a kid. some of my best memories of growing up came from this area.

Way past due update

above pic is Mike

OK I know I am way past due doing an update.
Charlie is doing good, Chemo makes him sick for a few days every time he gets a treatment.
He is not ready to have someone take care of him yet. We have moved back to our trailer in Mount Vernon for a while. We are close enough that if he needs help we can be there soon.
Since I am not working right now we decided it was time to for me to make trip home to Alaska and visit my parents and friends. I arrived in Alaska last Sunday and our friends Mike and Pat picked me up at the airport. I spent until friday with them and had a great visit. Tuesday Mike and I went to Whittier and went out fishing with his son in law. we had a really nice trip. the weather cooperated and was nice. water was good most of the day. Amazingly I even caught a couple of nice silver salmon.
Friday Mike and Pat brought me out to the Valley and my parents house, where we surprised them with my presence. They did not know I was coming up so it was a really good surprise.
Here is a couple of pics of the fishing trip. Owen I wish you could have been there, you would have enjoyed battling a silver salmon.

Trip to Bremerton

Last Sunday Vicki and I went to Bremerton to visit my brother Gene and his wife Cindy.
We had a good time visiting and catching up on what has been going on each others lives.
The weather cooperated and it was a nice day. We did drive through some rain going to and coming back from Bremerton.
Vicki and I went to Red Lobster in Silverdale on the way home for dinner. We had a really great meal. Nice treat for us. We sat next to a couple from Belfair. We had a really nice visit with them.
Weather Monday was nice, woke up this morning to rain. Looks like it will be a wet day.
Charlie is doing fairly good. The Chemo makes him pretty sick. He has one more treatment on Thursday, then the Doctor will see how is doing and maybe start radiation soon.
Thats all the news for now, take care till next time.

Short update

We had a good trip from Beaver to Washington. Spent a couple of days visiting along the way. We arrived in Mount Vernon last weekend, and spent a couple of days there, left our trailer at my cousins house and packed a bag and took the ferry across to Sequim.
Charlie is doing fairly good so far on his Chemo. We will know more next week after seeing his doctor. His next treatment is next thursday.
Weather has been really nice here. Today we have a few scattered clouds but nice out, highs in the low 70's.
The cats have adapted well to charlies house, Mikie has taken over just like he owns the place.
Thanks everyone for your prayers, I will do another update after next week. Till then take care.

Movin On

For those of you that have not heard yet, Vicki's step dad, Charlie has cancer and is starting treatment today. We are leaving Beaver Saturday the 5th and going up to be with him. Please keep him in your prayers.
The campground owners here in Beaver have been very understanding and have no problem with us leaving early to take care of Charlie. We have enjoyed our stay in Beaver. Met some really nice workampers that we will stay in touch with.
I will do another update after we get to Washington, and we know more about what is going on. Until then take care.

Scooter ride

I went for a short ride on the scooter out to Milford, Utah. It is about 35 miles from the campground. It was a beautiful day for a ride, seen some deer and lots of farmers busy in the fields. I stopped at Minersville on the return trip bought a couple of waters and checked out the town, after the 5 minute tour headed back to the campground.

June 5th Snow

Well finally got a couple of pictures uploaded. The snow is all melted off now and weather appears to be getting better.
